Sarah Lewis is an award-winning writer of words – journalistic, creative non-fiction, fiction and newsletters (her first love and a much under-appreciated art form).
She has a creative writing MA from the University of East Anglia where she won the David Higham Award and has been mentored by critically acclaimed authors including Leone Ross and Peter Hobbs. She was one of the NWS10 talented early career writers and gained a rarely given special mention in the BBC Short Story Award.
Sarah launched the original Brighton Writers’ Retreat in 2012 in order to escape her family and spend time writing. Through the incredible community that formed around those events she discovered a deep love of creating courses and workshops that light a fire under the procrastinating arses of renegade writers, leading to the birth of Writers’ HQ.
Sarah is a pathological malcontent and despite writing endlessly is never satisfied. She loves spreadsheets, being right, movements for social change and sticking it to the man. Oh and also stories. She really, really likes stories.
Let’s skip the part where you spend years working on your literary masterpiece and write a novel in an hour instead. Join award-winning writer of words Sarah Lewis for a whistlestop tour of stories, storytelling and dramatic arcs, complete with glitter, googly eyes and a lot of silliness.
Discover the shape of stories, how writers make your favourite stories so awesome, and how you can do the same, all while reconnecting with your childhood love of making stuff up using nothing but the power of your brain. Sidestep your overthinking, quieten the constant chattering in your mind, and see what happens when you let your creativity flow.
You’ll walk away from this fun and funny session with your very own novel in your hands, and despite being created at breakneck speed, set a firm foundation for a lifetime of wonderful story making (that will still be better than anything AI can churn out).
