Clive Myrie

Clive Myrie

Clive Myrie is one of the BBC’s most recognisable journalists. In his 30 years with the Corporation, he has reported from more than 90 countries, most recently from Ukraine, Israel and the West Bank.

A BAFTA winning journalist and the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent, he is equally at home hosting Mastermind, guest presenting Have I Got News for You, or appearing in travel documentaries.

Born to Jamaican parents of the Windrush generation, Clive’s memoir, ‘Everything is Everything,’ is a Sunday Times bestseller. The title, taken from a Caribbean phrase, reflects Clive’s belief that everything is connected, and that even through turmoil, there is always room for hope.

What if…there weren’t any journalists?

-

Clive will be reflecting on how his upbringing in Bolton shaped his perspective and fuelled his drive to tell the world’s stories.  Central to his story is his mother’s resilience – a qualified teacher whose skills were dismissed when she arrived in Britain – and the quiet sacrifices of migrants like her.

He will talk about his life, his work and why journalism is, and will always be, so important. This is particularly true when it comes to reporting on conflicts. When journalists aren’t allowed into war zones, it creates an information vacuum that both sides try to exploit. How can we determine the truth?
